Meghan is very family-oriented, plays the piano, loves to play sports and even helps manage her basketball team. At age 17 Meghan was diagnosed with having a brain tumor and her world turned upside down. For someone so social and physically active, her daily life was altered in a big way. Instead of focusing on friends and playing sports, she was worried about her next radiation therapy treatment and making it through an upcoming surgery. As a result of the surgeries Meghan has undergone, the left side of her body reacts much slower than her right side.

Meghan spent a lot of time in the hospital receiving her treatments and recovering from surgery. To help take her mind off her many worries, she would watch “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Meghan found the show extremely uplifting and was truly inspired by Ellen’s kindness and humor. When she qualified to receive a wish through Make-A-Wish®, she immediately asked if she could go to California and see “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” With your generous support through the Rock for Wishes event, we were recently able to make her wish a reality!

Meghan’s wish trip began with a limousine ride to the airport. Meghan and her family then flew to Los Angeles, California for the start of her magical wish experience. Meghan was able to do and experience so many incredible things during her time in California. She and her family received four tickets to Universal Studios in Hollywood where they were able to take a behind the scenes tour and experience thrilling adventures like the Jurassic Park ride and The Fast & the Furious Extreme Close-Up! They hung out in Hollywood and walked along the Walk of Fame and did some shopping. They also spent time at the ocean and went to the Santa Monica Pier.

Meghan had an absolutely incredible time being in the live studio audience at Ellen’s show. She was smiling and laughing the entire time. Ellen even ended up dancing right next to her in the aisle! She and her family came away with so many great souvenirs, including Ellen underwear, and truly incredible memories. Meghan’s second favorite part of her wish was when she went to iFly Indoor Skydiving, inside a skydive simulator that took her more than 30 feet off the ground by using a giant fan. She had the time of her life!

Upon her return, Meghan said “this trip was more than I could have ever dreamed of and I am so glad I got to experience such an unforgettable trip, with my parents and brother!” Meghan’s wish was a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience that she and her family will remember forever. We know that the memories of her wish will continue to bring her inspiration, strength and joy.
