Brad Christenson
Rock for Wishes

Dear Brad,

Thank you for giving hope, strength and joy to Northeast Wisconsin children with life-threatening medical conditions through your continued support of Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin. We are so grateful to you for once again hosting the incredible Rock for Wishes all-ages concert with proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish Foundation. With your incredible leadership, the event has gained a lot of popularity and raised a record-breaking $10,053.00 in 2012! Through the support of compassionate donors like you, a wish come true will help hundreds of children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their medical conditions. We are thrilled to present you with these gold stars for your generous support in helping to make Beaumont’s, Frehley’s and Nicole’s wishes come true.

Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin has been working with caring individuals like you, businesses and community groups all over the state since 1984 to help children and their families during dark and challenging times. Last year alone, we granted a record-breaking 325 wishes, and now nearly 4,600 wish families can attest to the transformational power of a wish, resulting for many in a turning point in the fight against their children’s illnesses.

“One of the best things about Madison’s wish was seeing both of our kids so happy and full of excitement, like kids should be and feel,” said Madison’s parents after returning from her wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort. “It was as if time stood still. I wish I could have bottled their happiness.”

More than 400 Wisconsin children like Madison will be diagnosed this year with a life-threatening medical condition, and there are currently more than 260 wishes in progress throughout Wisconsin. Thanks to you, more children like these will discover the power of a wish. Alayah wishes to go to Sesame Street and Charles wishes to go to the NCAA Final Four Tournament. Rebecca wishes to meet Eminem while Ian wishes to meet Pittsburgh Steeler Hines Ward. George wishes to go to Hawaii and Marissa, Austin and Brinley wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort.

A wish improves a child’s state of mind replacing fear with happiness and helping him or her feel like a normal kid again. On behalf of wish families, our Board of Directors and Staff of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, we thank YOU for your heartfelt commitment to the Make-A-Wish® mission.

Warmest Wishes,

Kris Teofilo
Regional Director

About Nicole

Nicole is a 17-year-old girl from Oshkosh who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a few years ago. Nicole is a very giving and thoughtful young girl. When the referral was made to Make-A-Wish, we were told that Nicole wasn’t even sure she wanted a wish because she didn’t want to take away the opportunity for anyone else. Fortunately, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin has never had a waiting list thanks to the incredible support from events like Rock for Wishes.

Nicole is a very open and friendly teenager. She spends most of her free time hanging out with her friends and her boyfriend. She enjoys watching anime and listening to a variety of current singers and YouTube artists. The volunteer Wish Granters from Make-A-Wish met with Nicole and helped her realize her one true wish. Nicole’s family never really spent money on non-essentials. Nicole always had what she needed, but not many things just because they were pretty or fun to have. Nicole decided that, more than anything else, she would like to go on a shopping spree.

Nicole’s wish was recently granted when we sent her and her family to the Mall of America with a generous stipend for Nicole to spend. Nicole and her family checked into the Radisson Hotel in Minnesota which was located very near the Mall of America and even had its own water park. The Mall of America is an absolutely enormous place to shop and explore. In addition to four main department stores, the mall has over 500 other specialty stores in which to shop.

Because of her medical condition, Nicole had lost quite a bit of weight, so new clothes were number one on her shopping list. She also bought quite a few accessories such as perfume and fragrant items from Bath & Body Works. Nickelodeon Universe is the largest, indoor theme park in the nation with over 30 fun-filled rides and attractions. Nicole’s family received passes to Nickelodeon Universe, as well as to the Sea Life Aquarium.

Nicole told Make-A-Wish that the best part of her wish experience was not having to worry about the money she was spending. She was able to get what she wanted, rather than what she needed. It was Nicole’s first limousine and airplane ride. She told us that she and her brothers were so excited by the new experiences. Thank you for your support in making Nicole’s life-affirming wish come true. She returned home with so many new things that she was able to personally hand-pick. This wish was all about her enjoying some time away from her everyday life, bonding with her family and not having to think about her medical condition. Thank you!
